Director EMEA Utilities
|David is a Utilities business and IT professional and Fellow of the British Computer Society. He began his career as an Electrical Distribution Engineer, keeping the lights on (usually) in central Scotland. David progressed through roles in ScottishPower’s programme participating in the deregulation of UK electricity retail, then into IT Strategy and Management. He spent around 4 years consulting to Utilities with Logica, where he assisted several Utilities in their strategic development and built successful business cases for major transformation.Since early 2010, David has lead Teradata’s EMEA Utilities practice, helping to bring Teradata’s market leading data management and analytics products, knowledge and capabilities to the EMEA Utilities sector. He regularly undertakes speaking engagements and publishes articles in national and trade press. In 2011/12 David has presented at Utilities conferences in Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, Russia and the United States.
Earlier this year, David’s presentation at a major European Utilities CxO conference led to Teradata winning the conference’s ‘Summit Thought Leader’ award for Solution Providers. David has an electrical engineering degree from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh and an MSc from The Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. He lives in Edinburgh (at the weekends at least) and spends too much time at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society there.
